Speaking

Dr. Hatcher regularly speaks to teachers, librarians, Graduate students, and parents about her Children's Literature research specialization. She's spoken at regional and national academic conferences on the topic of children's literature, including the Children's Literature Association's National Conference, a regional MLA Conference, and the C.S. Lewis Society's Annual Conference. She's offered talks on:

- The Power of Reading Aloud

- Diversity in Children's Literature

- Literary Analysis Through Picture Books

- Picture Books for All Ages

- Aslan's Muscular Christianity

- Two Women and an Inkling

- Muscular Christianity as an Anti-Feminist Force in The Chronicles of Narnia

- Adoption: Attachment through Children's Books

Dr. Hatcher provides a very valuable message about reading to young children. Both our professional teaching staff and our parents have enjoyed her presentations. She is professional, intelligent, and engaging. While we all know it's important to read to children, her research and examples provided wonderful motivation and insight for us. Attendees continued to reference her comments months later!
